The last few months have seen a relative explosion of Gypsy Jazz Encyclopedias built on the Wikipedia model. For those interested in the history this great music, it’s a boom time. Leading the way are Steve Royall and Michael Horowitz, whose sites (www.hotclub.co.uk and www.djangobooks.com, respectively) have long been among THE sites for djangoloiles, providing not only one stop shopping for everything from CDs to guitars, but also active forums for the exchange of gypsy jazz knowledge of all kinds. A third site focusses solely on Django’s recorded output, and provides an invaluable resource for those interested in actually playing the music. The addition of the Wikipedias should only add to the music’s popularity, and we encourage anyone with an interest in it to add to them. Links to all three can be found below.

On a personal note, this is my first post for djangology.net, and I’d like to thank Jacques for having me here; I hope it’s the beginning of a long collaboration. My thanks too to Jon who hosted the site for so many years; we’ll meet someday, my friend!
Best,
Jack.
